Right before we got married, I got some advertisement in the mail about a cruise for two to the Bahamas for only $119. I had just got my airline job, so we knew we would be able to fly to Florida for free. Keith was driving me up to the airport, so I convinced him that we should, "just call and see what the deal was…" 30 minutes later, by the time I was off the phone, I had booked our cruise! It was a simple, two night cruise to the Bahamas on Bahama Celebration (I learned all cruises are not the same) but none the less it was a blast.
We had a tight summer budget and a looooong list of places to travel, so we were firm in that we wouldn't spend anymore than necessary for our cruise. From the Airport we took the Metro, then we walked a few miles in the 1000% humidity and 100 degree Florida weather. I was carrying around a pillow, just in case we didn't make our flight and would have to sleep in the airport. For about 5 miles we were walking around, dirty and sweating hard core, backpacks on our back, and carrying around a giant, dirty pillow stuffed full with random things that I kept putting inside of it ...we really looked homeless!
I think we were the only people that walked to our cruise boat.
This was our luxurious, closet...
The room sucked. And the food and boat were not too impressive either. But there is something so fun about floating around in the middle of the ocean, were you really cant complain. We swam, played a lot of shuffle board, ate a lot, played board games and enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The nightly entertainment was actually my favorite part of the trip. I signed Keith up for the Karaoke contest and blackmailed him into do it. Turns out, he won the entire thing (not surprising) and had to compete again the following night after the night show. It turned out to be quite the ordeal. They made him take professional pictures, video taped, had him sing up on the big stage with lights and a big audience. Keith was totally miserable and hated everything about it but I was on the opposite side of the spectrum. I thought it was so funny and so very sweet. He sang "My Best Friend" by Blake Shelton and dedicated it to me. It was sooo cute and we go a lot of ooooh and awwwes from the audience haha, not to mention the crowd when wild for him. It was so fun and people would stop and compliment him all over the ship.
Good thing keith doesnt read our blog, but if he happens to, he will be so made that I put this up. So dont tell him ha. I want to remember this, it was so sweet :):):)
He also got called up by the magician and also for the scavenger hunt. Keith was rather popular on our Cruise.
The Bahamas were very pretty. We paid for a van to take us to "The Very Best Beach." I got a kick out of them driving on the wrong side of the road. The beach was packed, and it was no Hawaii but it was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had fun in the sun.
After the cruise was over, we again did a lot of walking/train to get to the airport. Flying out of Florida our flight was delayed, and we missed our connection home. Thus we slept on the floor in the Newark Airport. (I was sure glad we had that pillow!) Oh the joys of standby. Ive slept on the airport floor more times than I can remember.
